No, I am not marrying this Pak cricketer

Actress Sushmita Sen today dismissed reports as "absolute rubbish" suggesting that she is planning to tie the knot with Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram.

Earlier some reports alleged that the duo is planning to get married after seeing each other for a couple of years.

But the 37-year-old actress took to micro-blogging site Twitter to clarify the news, saying she is just good friends with 46-year-old Akram.

"Hi guys! Been reading about my upcoming wedding with Wasim... Absolute Rubbish. Goes to show just how irresponsible media can be sometimes.

"Wasim Akram is a friend and will always be one!! He has a wonderful lady in his life... Rumours like these are uncalled for and disrespectful," Sushmita said.
The former Miss Universe, who is a single parent to two adopted daughters Renee and Alisah, also said she will disclose when she gets married.

"My beautiful people... when I find 'The One'... You'll be the first to know. Benefits of being my twitter family!!".

Rajinikanth to attend Cannes film fest

Megastars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth will come together in a most unexpected way at the upcoming Cannes International Film Festival in May.

While Amitabh will represent his first Hollywood film "The Great Gatsby" in Cannes, Rajinikanth will be unveiling the trailer of his new film "Kochadaiyaan" at the fest.

Murli Manohar, co-producer of the southern film, confirmed Rajinikanth's presence in Cannes at the same time as the Big B.

"It's a big moment in the history of Indian cinema. Rajiniji is as excited as a child about the way 'Kochadaiyaan' has turned out. Technique-wise it takes Indian cinema to another level altogether. Rajiniji has shown the rough cut of the film to his close friends. The other day, A.R. Rahman saw the rough cut and was blown away," said Manohar.
"Kochadaiyaan" will be finally completed July 15. The release date is to be decided by the end of May.

Apparently, Rajinikanth, 62, has been advised against long air travel. But he is in no mood to stop himself from making that long journey to Cannes, where the annual movie extravaganza begins May 15.

A source close to the project said: "He is adamant on going. He has become extremely frail. But whenever anyone mentions his delicate health to Rajiniji, he gives the example of Mr.Bachchan, who has braved the most serious illnesses and done exactly what he wanted and gone exactly where he wanted in his career."

5 Sitcoms That Should Make a Comeback

alt
Indian television – despite all the saas-bahu drama and never-ending reality shows – had quite a number of good shows that make most of us nostalgic.
Harking back to those good ol’ days, we list out the best 5 Indians sitcoms that should make a comeback.

1. Hum Paanch

One of the most favorite of all Indian sitcoms, Hum Paanch was a scream! A middle-class white-collar worker, who is perpetually in trouble – what with the exploits of his 5 daughters, his new wife who is always supporting them and his dead first wife speaking to him from a portrait. It ran from 1995 to 1999, and then again for a short stint in 2005. This was Vidya Balan’s first entry into Indian television and also was responsible for making Zee TV a formidable channel.

2. Sarabhai VS Sarabhai

alt

Boasting of one of the best TRPs for an Indian comedy show, Sarabhai VS Sarabhai enjoyed a huge fan following – not only for its storyline, but also for the quirky lovable characters. With an array of awards in its kitty, this show ran from 2004 to 2006 for 70 episodes. Deven Bhojani, the director of the show, stated in 2012 that it would not make a comeback, much to the disappointment of the fans. Mr. Director, can we at least hope for a film?

3. Khichdi

alt

One sitcom that did go on to be made into a movie was Khichdi, which aired in 2002 – and made for one of the most memorable one-liners. Still much a part of pop culture through Facebook memes, all 98 episodes of this sitcom have been rerun on a number of channels. One of the first Indian shows to adopt the Western model of annual seasons, Khichdi the Movie released in 2010 to a lukewarm response.

4. Office Office

alt

This Pankaj Kapoor starrer also did not receive much positive reviews when it was made into a film a decade after it aired on television. What is it with Indian sitcoms that they are much better at the silver screen than the box office? Poking fun at office politics, Kapoor plays the ‘everyman’ who negotiates his way across the corruption and bribery rampant in the public offices of India. Needless to say, it went on to win a number of best comedy awards!

5. Shrimaan Shrimati

alt

Love thy neighbor? Nah, more like “love thy neighbor’s wife”! With two couples living next to each other, with the husbands attracted to each other’s wives, there is bound to be trouble. And how! Airing in Doordarshan in 1995, it went on to be rerun in other cable channels after its success.
There have been other sitcoms as well, not half bad – and they can certainly give the ones being aired today a run for their money. While we are not complaining, we believe Indian television would be much richer if these shows were to make a comeback – deadpan, slapstick and all of the rest!

5 Awesome Twitter Tips And Tricks

alt
Twitter with its more than 500 million user-base and 340 million daily tweets is one of the biggest player in the social networking scenario. And yet people are oblivious of its hidden capabilities.
So we bring to you some nifty little tips and tricks that will make your Twitter experience all the more enjoyable:

1. Categorized Following

We usually tend to hunt down celebs, musicians or a bunch of people to fall under the same category like Politics & Government, Media & Journalists, Sports, Bollywood, etc. But all thanks to the ‘Browse Category’ facility under the #Discover tab, Twitter tends to generate lists full of people whom you may be keen on following. These generated lists are smartly created as per your prior followers and following list and displays relevant profiles for you to follow.

2. Advanced Search

alt

Remember that one tweet your friend tweeted and you forgot to mark it as favorite? Only if you could hunt it down without going through a colossal list of tweets by him. Thankfully, Twitter offers an advanced search like none other. Capable of tweaking it to precision, you can search according to the words used, hashtags involved, people tweeting it, any other person tagged in the same tweet, the place, etc., all at the same time! A very handy feature if you’re keen on getting hold of any vital information buried deep within the realm of Twitter.

3. Create Lists

alt

It always seems to be the case that there are a bunch of people whom you follow that tend to tweet about the same thing over and over incessantly. Either you keenly follow them or thoroughly despise their rants. To ease the pleasure/pain of having to follow them and look at their tweets, all you need to do is go to your profile, click on Lists, and then on Create List. This enables you to put a bunch of like-minded people under a single page that you can access at any given point of time and it will solely display you their tweets and pics.

4. Twitter News Feed

alt

Twitter like Facebook is equipped with a News Feed that shows you people’s activities other than tweeting, a Lá Facebook function for Twitter. Placed right under the #Discovery tab as ‘Activities’, it shows you if anyone has favorited a certain tweet or followed somebody new. A highly useful feature, this one will allow you to follow some more people or gain insights into other people’s activities on Twitter!

5. Browser Extensions

alt

All thanks to Twitter’s 3rd party integration, a user is capable of integrating Twitter into the browser itself and save up a tab space. There are tonnes of browser extensions available on both Google Chrome and Firefox that allow you use a small segment of the browser as a Twitter client. There’s Twitter Bird, Twitter Pulse and other great ones for Chrome while Firefox offers TwitBin, TwitterBar among others!

Zombies, Run! enables a player to literally fill in the shoes of a post-apocalypse zombie bashing hero who needs to outrun zombies and obstacles to build a base for the remaining survivors.

Story Of The Berry New Z10

altFor a company that was once touted to be the game-changer in the international cellular market, RIM’s highly-innovative BBM messaging service came to face some serious flak in the recent times.
Substandard cellphones equipped with below-par hardware and an equally disheartening operating system charted their own path for downfall. This, of course can easily be blamed upon the advent of android-powered cellphones and the revolutionary iPhone by Apple. And so to keep up with the changing times, Blackberry unveiled the Z10. A touchscreen interface phone that looks the part and fairly does the part! Well, the Z10 is priced at Rs 43,490! That’s quite steep a price for a highly anticipated phone like the Blackberry Z10, and their last card to be drawn on the table—the Z10 proved to be their solution in this do or die situation. Let’s have a look at how it all fared!

It’s Got The Look

alt

Blackberry has done few things right over here. For one, they’ve adopted an all-touch design and threw away every physical key present, giving the Z10 a typical slate-like android-based look. Moreover, it borrows few of its design qualities from the finesse that the iPhone exults, making the Z10 look fairly classy as opposed to the android-based slabs out there. It’s comfortably thick and has just the right weight. Yet, a metal exterior, or a fairly better alternative to the plastic exoskeleton would’ve worked wonders. And especially since they’re charging a bomb, so why not make it worth every sweat!

Getting To The Heart Of The Matter

alt

As we mentioned earlier, the Z10 is comfortably loaded with hardware such as Dual core TI OMAP 4470 1.5GHz processor, 4.2-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 356 pixels per inch (better than the iPhone 5’s 326), 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage, NFC and an 8 megapixel camera. As good as it may seem, the dual core that lies at its heart seems to fall short as opposed to the colossal Quad Core processors offered by its competitors at a relatively lower price. The battery life and other rigorous tests will be done once we get our hands on it, but so far it sounds and feels pretty interesting!

Is The Operation Successful?

alt

The operating system of the Z10 is a refreshing one as opposed to its previous editions. The operating System titled Blackberry 10 is highly adaptive and looks and feels polished and fairly buttery, although we would humbly note that the phone did seem sluggish at times while multi-tasking. Too early to tell though! The Blackberry world with their new-age messenger looks astonishingly neat, and the in-built video-chat and screen-sharing capabilities look simply delightful! This being said, a thorough and rigorous test will elucidate on how well the new OS is tailored.

Should You Buy It?

alt

For a smartphone that is so steeply priced, the tech-specks seem to be a tad disheartening, and the feel of the phone doesn’t compliment it either. The OS though, is a miraculous evolution coming from the Blackberry boys, and it looks truly promising. Although, this is just a preview and the final verdict would be out once we put the phone under a rigorous burn-test, but for now, things do seem bright in the Blackberry camp!
